Sydney-based manufacturer joins CUE, THE ICONIC and Alemais at AFC's Meet the Makers rooftop event at the Museum of Contemporary Art
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA, May 25 — J&M Fashions, one of Australia's longest-standing garment manufacturers, was selected as one of eleven manufacturers to participate in Meet the Makers, presented by Epson — a curated industry event held on the rooftop of the Museum of Contemporary Art during Australian Fashion Week 2026.
The event, organised by the Australian Fashion Council (AFC) and MC'd by Glen Rollason, Founder of RB Patterns, brought together leading Australian manufacturers and fashion brands in a structured matchmaking environment. Alongside J&M Fashions, brands including CUE, THE ICONIC, Alemais, BY JOHNNY, MARCS, Injury and West 14th attended to explore local manufacturing partnerships.
"For four decades, J&M Fashions has been manufacturing quality garments for some of Australia's most recognised retail names," said the company's founder. "Meet the Makers gave us the opportunity to step out from behind the brands we've supported and introduce ourselves to the next generation of Australian designers directly. The response was extraordinary."
J&M Fashions, based in Wetherill Park, NSW, specialises in women's apparel manufacturing with capabilities spanning design, pattern making, cutting, and full garment production. The company is the manufacturing force behind FEMIQN, its consumer fashion brand, and has produced over 2,300 designs across four decades.
The AFC's Meet the Makers program was designed to address a persistent disconnect in the Australian fashion industry — where local manufacturing capability exists but brands often don't know where to find it. By creating direct connections during the industry's most concentrated week of the year, the event opened new pathways for Australian-made production.
J&M Fashions is now accepting enquiries from Australian fashion brands seeking a local manufacturing partner.
